About Mary Lou (Hoffman) Patti

MEET MARY LOU
As one of the first to take the National Board Teacher Certification test, Mary Lou was among those who set the standard for all to follow.
As part of an NSF (National Science Foundation) granted project, she and her mentor wrote a duology of books on using computers effectively in the classroom.
Teaching and Experience
Teaching and tutoring math from elementary students through college has been her life work. This would include algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus.
Mary Lou has taught math and algebra in the Indiana County, Pennsylvania school system. In Florida, she mentored at a private school. She has tutored everywhere she has lived plus online classes and homeschooled from kindergarten through graduation. She worked with Orange County (Florida) Public Schools for many years.
Many students preparing for the math portions of standardized tests – ACT, SAT, EOC, PERT, GED, NJSLA, and ISEE – have found confidence with Mary Lou.
Mary Lou also has over 20 years of office experience which makes her a SME (subject matter expert) to teach typing and Microsoft applications.

Education
Mary Lou is a “real” math teacher. She graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Education – Mathematics.
IUP is considered to be the foremost university for educators – THE college for preparing teachers!
Success
While Mary Lou was still in college, her professors at IUP
recommended her as a tutor for the local school district. The first student Mary Lou tutored independently had dropped out of high school. A few years later she had the opportunity to earn a diploma rather than a GED if she completed her math credit requirements. Mary Lou said, “I was so proud to share my own high school graduation gown from my closet with her and provide her with an authentic graduation picture when we finished.”
Some other accomplishments include helping a grandmother earn her GED, a mother earn her MBA, and several young men and women prepare for the ASVABs (military entry test).
You can be the next success story!
